Episode 18: From WeChat Channel to Standalone App — Aubzhang Stuffed the Whole Digital Base into Everyone's Phone

2026-11-01 · Aubzhang · Episode 18 of 18

Friends, happy weekend.

Aubzhang App V1.0.3 is out

Works, articles and poster sharing, all in your phone (327 KB, one network permission)

For half a month Aubzhang has been spamming the WeChat channel: the vocabulary upgrade, the ad skipper, the AI review, all the way to the four-quadrant workflow of "code in one hand, thinking in the other."

Today, the final answer sheet.

Aubzhang has always felt that a WeChat channel is like a rented apartment. Lively, but full of limits. A dedicated independent site, aubzhang.com, is the digital base that actually belongs to you.

A few days ago he finished building the house. But today he's doing something bigger — stuffing the entire base, bodily, into everyone's phone.

Aubzhang App V1.0.3 ships today.

1. An Old Product Guy's Obsession: Why an App at All?

After the site launched, friends asked: if the web version works, why go to the trouble of building an app?

Because the web experience has a ceiling. Every time you share a link in WeChat, the recipient waits for it to load. Phone browsers keep interrupting the reading experience with popups and the bottom toolbar.

A dozen years as a product person, Aubzhang is tired of that kind of "making do." What he wanted was a reading space you open and read, immersive, undisturbed.

So he spent a few days and had AI mold this app.

Inside, you can download every AI app Aubzhang has built, and read every practical article he's written, immersively. Functionally it's basically the same as aubzhang.com, but using it is more convenient and smoother.

2. Absolute Restraint: Zero Privacy Permissions and the Victory of Minimal

Apps on the market today want your contacts, your photo library, your location at the drop of a hat. Aubzhang App is a total outlier.

Aubzhang set a hard rule here: absolutely zero privacy permissions, pure local operation.

He'll be honest about one thing: to load the latest content, Android forces you to declare a single baseline "network communication" permission. Beyond that, it doesn't read your photos, doesn't touch your contacts, doesn't get your location. It's a quiet reader that never looks at you twice.

No ads. No surplus buttons. Open it and you're greeted by the cleanest possible article list and every AI tool Aubzhang has built.

More than that — to protect eyes during late-night reading, Aubzhang pushed AI into writing a seamless dark/light mode switch. Whether you're slacking at your desk during the day or hiding under the covers at 3 a.m., the visuals stay comfortable.

3. A Small Brag: An App That Updates Itself

Aubzhang gave this app a genuinely smart architecture.

The article list and detail pages are wired directly to the personal site's hot-update endpoint.

What does that mean? It means when Aubzhang publishes a new article, you open the app and it silently pulls the latest content in the background. No manual "check for updates." Always in sync.

Better still, his custom "red dot tracking." Unread articles carry a small red dot on the right of the title. Open it, read it, come back out, the dot's gone. Reading progress is stored purely locally, so your privacy never leaks.

4. The Killer Feature: A Share Poster with Built-In Magic

Last, Aubzhang has to show off this one.

Sharing an Aubzhang article in WeChat used to mean a bare, dry link. Now, in any article inside the app, tap the share button in the top right and it instantly generates a minimal card poster.

On it: the key quote, your own QR code, and — most important — that QR code carries a direct link to this specific article. A friend scans it and the article opens in WeChat immediately. No interception.

Every time Aubzhang watches AI tuck the QR code into the poster automatically, he feels the last half month of pits was completely worth it.

Final Thoughts: The Door Is Wide Open

From an idea, to a web page, to an app. In half a month, this middle-aged guy who can't code carved out a road with AI that he never dared imagine before.

AI really is an amplifier. It amplified Aubzhang's obsession, his experience, and his pursuit of minimal products.

The WeChat channel is the living room. aubzhang.com plus this app is Aubzhang's permanent digital base.

Today the door is wide open. If you'd like, come by often.

🎁 How to get Aubzhang App
It's still being refined, so it's not in any app store yet.
Open aubzhang.com in a phone browser and tap the download entry on the homepage. (Note: WeChat cannot download apps directly. Copy the URL into a phone browser.)

May we meet happily inside Aubzhang's independent base.
